Beth I love all your clothing items and socks! You are always an inspiration be it your writing or these wonderfully creative items! Thanks for sharing! I have been knitting alot of baby items which is fun too. Love to you both!
Oh, Beth, these are all so beautiful. I love the Japanese shirt especially . Also, those socks look very cozy. I so wish I knew how to knit--something I just never learned.
You could teach yourself simple knitting using YouTube videos - which of course didn't exist when we were young! I never liked knitting when I was young but find it satisfying in the long winters - but I'm not very fast!
They're all lovely, Beth. I first one is so artsy - beautiful. The skirt looks just right for a Montreal winter. I'm thinking about what you have said about fabric and sewing shops being fewer now. I was just musing about that recently when trying to figure out where I would buy a certain thing without ordering online. I grew up in Montreal in the late 60s and early 70s. My mom and I both liked to sew so we used to go on shopping trips to parts of the city. Back then, because there was such a garment industry, there were a few shops that sold fabrics and particularly remnants that could be bought for next to nothing. One in particular in Lachine. We made all kinds of clothes from remnants we got from there.
Thanks, Bev, it's good to hear your recollections of the city! There are still a lot of fabric stores on St Hubert, but they cater more to the theater and costume designers, and also to upholstery. I find it hard to find good dressmaking fabrics here, which is too bad because I'd so much rather see and feel the fabrics before I buy!
They're all beautiful pieces!
Thanks, Annie!
i will show this to helga - she has borrowed a sewing machine and needs a little nudge to get strated
I hope she will try! It's such a good hobby and practical too -- like knitting!

I'd love to see what you're making! Please email me and tell me how everyone is doing!
Love that work shirt! Inspirational. Lovely post - thank you!
Thanks, Deborah! It was quite easy to make - the most tedious part is tracing the pattern!
