Oooh! The plushness and dimension of the pastels draw me right into the interior or the clouds and seem to caress the landscape. As Rachel says, they feel alive. (Oil pastel is a favourite.)
I like your roadside picture best. I really feel the wind and the coming storm. I think the colours contribute to that slightly sinister feeling, but on the other hand, the colour of the grass reminds me that I enjoy storms. I also much prefer your painting to the photograph for this picture, perhaps because the oil pastels add some depth. Your posts are always interesting. Thank you. I'm learning a lot!
I get the feel of the wind above the Quebec field quite easily without the wind effects being "highlighted," if that makes sense. The oil pastels seem to be perfect for this weather and location. I love love love the first detail of the Edessa drawing.
